Ruth Broadbent

Ruth Broadbent’s creative practice is inspired by nature and ecology, from the surface of the ground to imagined lines and lines of landscape, often mapped by walking and cycling ancient tracks and waterways. Connecting with a place or doodling on a page leads her to dive deeper into considering how we respond to history, culture and communication, drawing on her interdisciplinary academic background in art, sociology, human rights and languages.

She teaches in universities, art colleges and adult education, creates events for organisations and festivals, is a member of drawing, walking and ecology artist networks, and has been exhibiting her work since 2005.
