Basically, we promise not to do creepy stuff.

hyphaedrawing.art is a website set up by a group of artists to promote their work as a collective. hyphæ drawing collective is not a registered company or formal organisation, just a bunch of nice people who draw together.

The website is managed by Kim Plowright, who is the Data Controller for this site.

We use Squarespace Analytics, Squarespace Newsletter platform, Adobe Fonts, Google Fonts, Instagram embeds, Google Spreadsheets, Google ReCaptcha v2 and Cookies on the site. Squarespace, Instagram and Google are therefore probably Data Processors, as they manage the data from these tools on our behalf, governed by the contracts we have with them, and their terms of service.

Using Cookies helps us to:-

  • remember if you’ve ticked the cookie opt in!

  • make forms work properly on the site

  • get pseudonymised statistics through Squarespace Analytics that help us understand how many people are visiting the site, and what they’re looking at. This helps us do things like improve the site, spot any technical problems, and write funding applications for our personal art practice based on ‘engagement’ figures. The personal data Squarespace Analytics collects is:

    • Information about your browser, network, and device

    • Web pages you visited prior to coming to this website

    • Your IP address

This information may also include details about your use of this website, including:

    • Clicks

    • Internal links

    • Pages visited

    • Scrolling

    • Searches

    • Timestamps

You can find out more about the cookies that Squarespace sets, what they do, and how long they persist in their Cookie Help Area and Cookie Policy.

These functional and required cookies are always used, to allow Squarespace to securely serve the website.

These analytics and performance cookies are used if you click ‘Accept’ on our cookie banner.

We may also embed content from social media sites like Instagram, YouTube, Vimeo or Twitter. These sites may set their own 3rd party social cookies. If you disable them, this embeded content might not work properly.

The ICO Website has good information about what cookies are, and how to opt out of them in your browser and across other websites.

If you use our contact form, it will send an email to our main email address, and also store your information and message in a Google spreadsheet. This spreadsheet held in a folder shared by the members of the collective, accessable only when securely signed in to their Google account. We will review and delete records in this spreadsheet regularly, and will not keep them longer than 12 months. (If you say really nice things, we might save quotes with your name a bit longer so we can use them to cheer ourselves up when we’re writing those darn applications.)

If you opt in to recieve our newsletter when you send us a message, we will add your name and email to the Squarespace Newsletter platform.

Squarespace Newsletter platform will store a record of your Name and Email address, and if you have opted in to recieve our email newsletter. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter using a link in every email.

If you want to access, correct, or delete your personal data, (that is, to make a ‘Subject Access Request’) you can email Kim on hello@hyphaedrawing.art and she’ll sort it out. Please put Subject Access Request in the subject of your email.

If you do not feel we have handled your request or your data properly, you have a right to complain to the Data Comissioner at the ICO. We’d appreciate if you tried to sort it out with us, first, though, because we’re trying very hard to be nice.

Thanks for visiting us. Sorry about the mess.
